SyslogWatch receives syslog messages from devices configured by the user. Messages may include IP addresses, host names, application names, timestamps, and event details. The app also stores user-created alert rules and settings.

Storage and transmission

Logs and settings are stored locally on the user’s Mac. SyslogWatch does not send logs to the developer, analytics providers, or advertising networks.

If the user enables email alerts, matched event details are sent only through the SMTP server and recipient configured by the user. SMTP credentials are stored using operating-system encryption.

Control and responsibility

Syslog messages can contain personal or security-sensitive information. Users should connect only devices and networks they own or are authorized to administer and must follow applicable organizational policies and laws.
